Visit to Cypress Creek Elementary School

A great visit today with approximately 140 fourth graders at Cypress Creek Elementary School.  These  wonderful kids will also be writing letters to patients we'll be meeting during our visits to children's hospitals across the country.
At the conclusion of Michael's presentation, three of the students came up to him, each giving as many quarters as they had to donate to SammyRides.  When educators write about teachable moments, they should also write about emotional moments, because this was one that had an enormous impact on our visit today, not just for the kids, but for the riders as well.
One suggestion was made during the question and answer period, and it came from a student who thought it would be a good idea for us to pass out Tootsie Pops to the kids we'll be visiting.  We will most definitely follow up on this fantastic suggestion!!  Kids going through chemo, often loose their sense of taste, yet enjoy the sensation and sweetness of something such as a Tootsie Pop.
So, THANK YOU FOURTH GRADERS for such a great visit and for all that you're going to be doing in bringing smiles to kids in hospitals by the letters and cards you're writing.
