• Minto Communities, which developed Hazeltine in Lakewood Ranch's Country Club East, has donated $10,000 to the SammyRides project, to help raise awareness of pediatric cancer and support families battling the disease. SammyRides is a project sponsored by Team Will, a nonprofit formed by Sun City Center cyclists who volunteer their time and resources to support research and help families whose children are currently undergoing cancer treatment. The project is named for Sammy Rotman, a 9-year-old girl who died of osteosarcoma. On March 3, her grandmother, Lois Libenson and five other volunteers were to begin a 2,400-mile bike trip from Phoenix, Ariz., that will end in Sun City Center on May 1.
